Rhian Brewster sent a congratulatory message to Liverpool teenager Elijah Dixon-Bonner after it was announced that he had signed a new contract with the Reds.

Liverpool officially announced on Monday, via a brief statement on the club’s website, that Dixon-Bonner had signed a contract extension after regularly featuring for the U-23s this season.

The 18-year-old took to his Instagram to celebrate the news by sharing that the hard work continues, and he also took the time to thank fans for their support.

“New Contract Delighted to extend my stay with this great club. Thank you to all fans for your continued support. The hard work continues!” wrote the midfielder.

Dixon-Bonner’s message saw Brewster take to his own personal Instagram account to send the youngster a two-word message which said: “Congratulations bro.”

OPINION

It’s good to see two Liverpool youngsters bonding on Instagram as who knows both could one-day feature for the first-team together. While a standard message of congratulations doesn’t scream close rapport, the fact Brewster has taken the time to message Dixon-Bonner is telling. The 18-year-old midfielder has never featured for the senior team thus far, but is clearly doing all he can to get on Jurgen Klopp’s radar. Dixon-Bonner, according to Liverpool’s website, has improved the attacking side of his game recently and has chipped in with more goals, so clearly he is working hard in order to hopefully take his career to the next level. As for Brewster, he’s on the fringes of Liverpool’s first-team squad as Klopp has opted to use him a couple of times this season. The 19-year-old has made two appearances for the senior side in the EFL Cup this season, and clearly his next aim is to get his first goal for the first-team.
