Liverpool could be interested in making a move for Tottenham contract rebel Christian Eriksen, according to Jermaine Jenas.

The £75,000-a-week Dane [Spotrac] has yet to sign a new deal with Spurs, and will be free to leave the club at the end of the season if an agreement cannot be struck.

And Jenas has claimed that Liverpool could be amongst a host of clubs interested in snapping him up if he becomes available.

Speaking to the Mirror, he said: “If I was Eriksen and the bid didn’t come in that I wanted to come in, I would sit tight, I wouldn’t rush.

“Not only can I move for free in the summer, but that brings in Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, all the big hitters, Man Utd, even Liverpool.”

OPINION

Who wouldn’t want Eriksen in their squad? The Dane is arguably one of the finest playmakers in Premier League history, and his creative streak gives him a unique vision and intelligence that can unpick even the meanest of defences. So far this season, he has arguably struggled to hit top form, and yet he still has an average of 1.6 key passes per game in all competitions, as per Whoscored, with 2.3 per game in the Champions League in particular. He is a wizard on his day, and Liverpool fans would surely love to see his magic at Anfield. That being said, would it ever happen? If we’re being honest, it’s hard to imagine. Obviously, Spurs may not have a say in where he goes should he leave at the end of the season, but even then, Jurgen Klopp seems relatively happy with his midfield options. Factor in the resurgent form of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and it’s hard to see this one happening.
