Legendary Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert has taken to Instagram to send a message to Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk.
The Netherlands secured their qualification for Euro 2020 with a 0-0 draw against Northern Ireland on Saturday evening, and Van Dijk posted a photo of him and his teammates celebrating alongside the caption: “We are back”.
Responding to that post, Kluivert wrote: “Congrats Virgil”.

This was a big thing for the Netherlands, who failed to qualify for the last European Championships back in 2016. For a country with such a rich footballing history, that was a real blow, but now, with the likes of Van Dijk in their squad, they look very dangerous, and could even go as far as to lift the trophy itself. It’s no real surprise that Van Dijk has become the poster boy of this side. He is a colossus on the pitch who has helped to genuinely transform Liverpool’s fortunes in recent times. Even this season, when he perhaps hasn’t been at his absolute best, he has been imperious. averaging 5.2 clearances and 5.5 aerial duels per game, as per Whoscored. With a player like that at the heart of defence, don’t bet against the Netherlands going a long way.
