Former Real Madrid manager, and Champions League-winning player, Santiago Solari has heaped praise on Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
The 43-year-old had a five-month stint in charge of the Spanish giants last season, and he admits he has been very impressed by the job Klopp has managed to do for another of Europe’s heavyweights.
“Klopp is such a charismatic coach, with an expansive personality,” he told the Daily Mail. “He builds fast, aggressive teams with a winning mentality.
“I loved watching his Borussia Dortmund side and I enjoy watching his Liverpool now.”

We can all see why Solari is such a big fan of Klopp. The German has made a career out of moulding aggressive, entertaining teams without sacrificing their ability to win. Typically it’s thought that entertaining teams are never as good at grinding out results as a Jose Mourinho-style side. However, Klopp has proved that theory wrong in fantastic style, first with Borussia Dortmund and now with Liverpool. Solari was a bit unlucky where he took the Madrid job at a horrible time, in order to try and repair the damage done by Julien Lopetegui in his short stint in charge. Obviously it didn’t work out for him, but if he is going to improve his craft then it’s going to behoove him to study managers like Klopp and Pep Guardiola. It certainly seems like that is what he’s doing, and so hopefully that will benefit him in his next job.
