The international break couldn’t have come at a worst time for Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were starting to really pick up ahead of steam, beating Manchester City 3-1 at Anfield and continuing their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

They are still in the Carabao Cup after that eventful night against Arsenal, and after a couple of slips by Napoli they top their Champions League group, so things couldn’t get much better, right?

The international break now means that a number of their star men have to travel around the globe, and the likes of Mohamed Salah and Georginio WIjnaldum have already picked up setbacks.

England only have a short trip to Kosovo to get out of the way on Sunday, so the four Liverpool men should have been fine to come back and pick up where they left off.

That isn’t the case though, with the FA confirming on Saturday that both Jordan Henderson and Joe Gomez will miss that game against Kosovo and will not even travel with the squad.

The FA revealed that Gomez had picked up a knock to his knee, whereas Henderson is struggling to shake off the virus that also kept him out of Thursday’s win against Montenegro.

Henderson missing both games over the international break could suggest that his virus is much worst than once thought, and if it continues through the week, Klopp could face a real dilemma.

The Liverpool captain is often the source of blame at Anfield, but his absence would really highlight how much they would miss him in the heart of midfield.

The 29-year-old popped up with an important goal against Tottenham recently to help secure three points and has averaged 1.8 tackles per game according to WhoScored, highlighting his importance to breaking down the opposition on a weekly basis.

Missing two games could really spell danger for Klopp, who will be crossing his fingers that Henderson will return for their next game against Crystal Palace.
