Napoli could sell forward Lorenzo Insigne with Liverpool a potential suitor, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim on their website that after a number of their high-profile players went on strike against club president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, the only way around that could be to have a fire sale.

The Daily Mail report that Liverpool could make a move for Insigne, who would be rated at £55million, and could also attract attention from Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan.

It is suggested that the Reds could be put off by the price of the 28-year-old as he would not immediately be considered as a starting player at Anfield.

OPINION

It would be no surprise to see Jurgen Klopp make a move for Insigne, with the Italian star having tormented the Reds in the past two years in the Champions League group stages. The 28-year-old would be a quality signing at Anfield, but it would be hard to see where he would fit into the side without the system being changed by potentially taking a man out of midfield to add an extra option in the final third. Klopp would not be a massive fan of that having found the perfect blend for his Liverpool side, and Insigne wouldn’t exactly want to move if he wasn’t guaranteed a starting spot – something that could put a spanner in the works of any potential transfer. Insigne has started the season well but isn’t doing anything that makes him look better than either Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane after being involved in seven goals in his 11 league appearances so far. Unless the fire sale brings Insigne’s price down in the winter market, it would be a shock if Liverpool sanctioned a move for the forward.
