AC Milan and Napoli have joined Liverpool in the hunt to sign Schalke midfielder Amine Harit, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian outlet claim that the Reds have sent scouts to observe the Moroccan playmaker on numerous occasions and the Milan have already set their sights on challenging the Premier League club.

Calciomercato report that Liverpool’s Champions League rivals are interested in Harit, and are likely to step up their hunt for the 22-year-old.

It is suggested that the £17million valuation could rise in the January transfer window should the Schalke star continue to perform at the highest level in the Bundesliga.

OPINION

Harit is attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs and is easy to see why given that he has already been involved in eight goals in his 12 games this season. The 22-year-old has already surpassed his total from last season, where he was only involved in a couple of goals from 18 games, highlighting his monumental rise to the top under David Wagner. Jurgen Klopp could have the upper-hand in negotiations with Schalke given his friendship with Wagner, and Harit could be the answer to added creativity in midfield for Liverpool, who could do with more goals from deeper positions. Harit operates in the final third solely, and the fact that he completes 2.3 dribbles per game according to WhoScored proves that, with no one in the Reds’ squad averaging anywhere near that in each outing. Liverpool should do all they can to secure Harit whether in January or the summer, as he could be the answer to the questions surrounding Klopp’s midfield three.
