Adam Lallana will be aware of the fact that his Liverpool career is drawing to a close, according to Darren Bent.

The £110,000-a-week midfielder [Spotrac] has made just two starts in the Premier League this season, and Sky Sports pundit Bent is of the opinion that his time at Anfield could be running out.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “It is tough for him and he probably knows that his [Liverpool stay] is soon coming towards the end.

“And obviously with the Liverpool team like it is, he isn’t going to get in that midfield three.

“He’s an intelligent guy, he knows that it’s just about him getting over injuries and going somewhere he is going to play.”

OPINION

It’s a shame, but Bent might be right about this. Lallana has had his fair share of injuries in recent times, and even though he has managed to get past that frustrating phases in his career, it has set him back at a time when he needed to be establishing himself in Jurgen Klopp’s side. At the age of 31 he maybe doesn’t have too long at the very top left anyway, but with the likes of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain repeatedly showing their worth since returning from their own spells on the sidelines, it’s hard not to look at this Reds’ squad and fear for Lallana. Having barely featured, he has shown flashes of what he can do this season, such as during his 19 minute game saving cameo against Manchester United, but for the most part, his overall Whoscored rating of 6.33 is more representative of a player who is surely set to move on sooner rather than later.
