OPINION
This one came out of the blue, didn’t it? After a summer of barely any transfer activity, and with their side absolutely storming the Premier League, you could perhaps forgive Liverpool fans for assuming that they were in for a barren January. According to reliable journalist Paul Joyce, writing for The Times, however, the Reds could be on their way to landing RB Salzburg’s Takumi Minamino. The 24-year-old Japanese playmaker impressed over the course of two clashes with the Reds in the Champions League this season, registering a total of six key passes and three successful dribbles over the course of the two games, as per Whoscored. Joyce suggests that the player has a release clause of £7.25 million, and if that is true, and if the Reds actually make their move, then there’s absolutely nothing to suggest that this is anything but a no brainer. Good talent rarely comes cheap this days, and it almost never comes as cheap as Minamino will here. He’s young, exciting, and would provide great cover in an area that the Reds have looked short in for some time. Snap him up as soon as possible.
