Former Wales international Jack Collison has labelled Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp ‘just the best human’ after a touching moment on Tuesday.

On Monday the Reds boss forcefully corrected the German translator after he misquoted captain Jordan Henderson at their pre match press conference.

However, he was quick to apologise the next day, saying a sincere apology to the translator for reprimanding him in such a public setting.

Sky Sports pundit Collison loved that he did that: “This guy is just the best human,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

You really do have to give Klopp credit for how he treated this situation overall. He had every right to pull up the translator, because he did misquote Henderson. He made it seem as if the Liverpool skipper had said that he and his teammates were taking the game with Red Bull Salzburg lightly, which certainly wasn’t what he said. So Klopp naturally reprimanded the translator, reminding him that he can speak German as well. However, the former Borussia Dortmund boss was probably a little too forceful with how he spoke to the translator, and likely treated him a bit too harshly for what was probably an honest mistake. But it’s how he reacted the next day which shows what a great guy the German really is. He realised he had made an error in being so forceful, and so he apologised to the translator – in public as well. He could have easily done it behind the scenes, but he wanted to apologise in public because he’d reprimanded him in public too. Credit to him for that.
