OPINION
These will be the games that define Liverpool’s season. People will obviously look back on their wins against other members of the top six if they do go on to win the Premier League, but just as important will be the hard-fought victories over sides at the other end of the table. Watford, for their part, put up a hell of a fight at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime, and there were times, especially in the first half, when it looked as if they could actually do some damage to the Reds, but in the end it was a moment of magic from the talismanic Mo Salah that proved the difference in a 2-0 win. The Egyptian King has perhaps struggled to really hit his full stride at times this season, but his first goal against the Hornets was vintage Salah. A dangerous run, a wonderful little turn, and a curled effort from his supposedly weaker foot, the winger looked for a split second to be as unstoppable as he was in his first season on Merseyside. He then produced a second late on to really put things beyond doubt. All of that being said, by no means has he been poor this season. As per Whoscored, he has averaged 3.9 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.8 successful dribbles per game this team, and if it wasn’t for the ridiculously high standards he sets himself then he might well be getting lauded more than he is.
