Many Liverpool fans have given short shrift to a report in The Mirror regarding the future of Sadio Mane at Anfield, with the newspaper claiming that Real Madrid could try to tempt the Reds into selling the Senegal forward for a fee of £130m-£140m (also shared by @AnfieldEdition on Twitter).

According to The Mirror, the La Liga club’s manager Zinedine Zidane is a “huge admirer” of the 27-year-old, who has scored 18 goals for Liverpool this season and 77 in 161 matches for the Merseysiders since his move from Southampton in 2016. One of those goals came against Real Madrid in the Champions League final two years ago.

This is not the first time that Mane’s name has been linked with a possible move to the Bernabeu. In 2018, France Football reported that the Spanish club were close to completing a deal for the Reds attacker. Last summer, Senegalese FA chief Saee Seck publicly urged the player to join Los Blancos in an interview with Egyptian media outlet Mirror Sports (via The Mirror).

These Liverpool fans on Twitter unsurprisingly dismissed Real Madrid’s renewed interest in the 27-year-old, with one Kopite even willing to part with top scorer Mohamed Salah if it meant keeping Mane at Anfield:

Do you think Liverpool should refuse to sell Mane to Real Madrid at any price or would an offer of £130m-140m be too tempting to turn down? Comment below with your views!
