A number of Liverpool fans have shown their enjoyment of Jurgen Klopp’s reply in a press conference to a question regarding the coronavirus. When asked if he was worried about the possible spread of the virus, which has infected more than 93,000 people in more than 80 countries worldwide (as per The Guardian), the manager gave short shrift to the question.

As per a clip shared on Twitter by @TheRedmenTV, Klopp replied: “What I don’t like in life is that a very serious thing, a football manager’s opinion is important. I don’t understand that. I really don’t understand it. If I asked you, you are in exactly the same role as I am, so it is not important what famous people say.

“We have to speak about things in the right manner, not people with no knowledge like me. Talking about something, people with knowledge will talk about it and tell people to do this, do that, everything will be fine or not, not football managers. I don’t understand that. Politics, coronavirus, why me? I wear a baseball cap and have a bad shave.”

According to The Guardian, the virus has killed 3,190 people worldwide and 51 cases have been recorded in the United Kingdom, although there have been no fatalities from it so far in the country. As noted by BBC, it has led to widespread disruption of football competitions, with numerous Serie A fixtures postponed in Italy as well as the halting of the Swiss Super League. The Guardian also reported that the Premier League is discussing contingency plans about matches potentially being played behind closed doors, a ruling that has been applied to some upcoming UEFA competition matches in Spain.
