Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is determined to keep faith with Naby Keita and still believes he can get the best out of the midfielder, according to The Athletic’s James Pearce on Twitter (@JamesPearceLFC, via @AnfieldEdition).

Earlier this week, The Mirror had claimed that the 25-year-old’s future at Anfield was hanging in the balance, with Guinean media outlet Foot 224 stating last week that he had been omitted from the home defeat to Atletico Madrid purely through the manager’s choice and not forcibly through injury. Keita has frequently seen his Liverpool career dogged by fitness problems, missing the conclusion of last season as well as the early weeks of the current campaign through injuries before a groin strain ruled him out for most of January (as per TransferMarkt).
The Guinea international cost the Reds £52.75m in 2018 (as per Sky Sports) and has only scored six times in 51 appearances, although those goals came in quick bursts in April and December of last year when he showed the type of form which may have persuaded Klopp to bring him to Anfield in the first place. These Liverpool fans on Twitter were pleased to hear that Keita retains his manager’s faith and believe that he can still make a discernible impact for the Reds:

Needs a full pre season under his belt and he will become a valuable player for us.

Yes. People don’t realize how good a player we have in Naby. He’s already been written off. Can’t wait to see their faces when Naby is ruling the PL.

Should Liverpool keep faith with Keita or do they need to write it off as a transfer that just hasn’t worked out? Join in the discussion by commenting below!
