Liverpool FC announced on its official website this morning that the club plans to overhaul the ticket-buying process for home fixtures from next season after commencing a partnership with mobile-focused ticketing platform SeatGeek, news that was also shared on its official Twitter channel @LFC.
#LFC is overhauling its ticket-buying process ahead of next season by investing in innovative, industry-leading technology to improve ticket distribution and the way supporters can access Anfield.

The proposed changes to the ticket purchasing process intend to improve ticket distribution through smoother website performance during members’ sales, thus enhancing user experience during peak sale times. The club also plans to facilitate the purchasing of match tickets through mobile devices as well as supporting the use of e-tickets at Anfield for fans who prefer this method to traditional printed tickets. The process of purchasing tickets for Liverpool matches at Anfield has been a bone of contention among some of the club’s supporters in the past, with many Reds fans venting their fury at the existing system after being unable to get tickets in the previous members’ sale in November. With Anfield having an official capacity of just 54,074 before away fans’ allocation and season ticket holders are accounted for, demand can often outweigh supply, while further restrictions apply as members who attended 13 or more home games in the previous season are given priority in being able to purchase tickets two days ahead of the general sale (as per liverpoolfc.com).
These Liverpool fans on Twitter reacted with cynicism to the news of the club’s partnership with SeatGeek and the proposed ticket-buying changes:
Stop the touts buying them up and let the true fans buy them. Joke of a system I wonder why I bother paying my membership fee every year

Absolutely nothing new here.

Still won’t be able to get tickets

Great, another process to grind my spirit to a pulp. Look forward to it .

Does that mean I’ll actually be able to buy tickets now?

? i still don’t Get tickets

I’ll never be a paid member again unless I’m getting at least one ticket a season. I’ve been turned down from tickets twice after paying for the top membership. So aggravating.

So have they actually listened to the fans responses from fan forums and the ticket buying survey they sent us or @LFC they just invested cash into a new system that still won’t help loyal fans get tickets? We will see….
