Plenty of Liverpool fans have been reacting to an update from journalist James Pearce on the probability of Jadon Sancho becoming a Reds player.
In a piece for The Athletic, he claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s admiration for the Borussia Dortmund winger is well known and that there is an evident appeal for him. However, he added that Liverpool’s owners FSG regard the Bundesliga club’s reported asking price of £120m as excessive. Those updates were subsequently shared on Twitter by @LFCTransferRoom.
The appeal of Jadon Sancho is clear. Klopp’s admiration for the gifted winger, who turns 20 on Wednesday, is well known and his numbers are impressive. the Anfield hierarchy regard a pricetag of around £120M as inflated. [@JamesPearceLFC] pic.twitter.com/JVuP80FDzq

The Reds were linked with a possible nine-figure move for the 20-year-old in recent weeks by the Daily Mail, with the England youngster registering a fine haul of 17 goals and 19 assists in 2,791 minutes across 35 games for Borussia Dortmund so far this season (one goal per 164.18 minutes, one assist per 146.9 minutes). At Liverpool, fellow left winger Mohamed Salah is the Reds’ top scorer with 20 goals and nine assists from 40 matches this term across 3,423 minutes of game-time (one goal per 171.15 minutes, one assist per 380.33 minutes).
These Reds fans on Twitter gave their take on Pearce’s update on Sancho, with one wondering why FSG would consider his valuation excessive given Liverpool’s minimal transfer market spend over the past year:
The front 3 is sound but Origi Mina and Shaq covering a front 3 of that ability is as bad a drop off as you will see. The aim must be to compete on all fronts. We went out with a whimper early doors in 3 of the 4 main trophies due to squad players not being up to it when needed.

The same was about Alisson@JamesPearceLFC one said he’s not worth 90 million that Roma wants.
However, we signed him for 60 and now he’s ours.— Dean Moxley (@VipMoxley) March 24, 2020
We’ve scrimped enough since 2018. Time to roll the dice here, Sancho has proven he can thrive at a high level
