A number of Liverpool fans want to see Timo Werner at Anfield next season after The Athletic journalist Simon Hughes provided an update on the possibility of the RB Leipzig striker coming to Merseyside in the summer.
Speaking about the Germany international on The Red Agenda podcast last night [03/03/20 – 51:35, via Empire of the Kop], Hughes said: “He really wants to move to Liverpool. It looks like the next few weeks might see some movement. They’re going to be trying to do things a little quieter. He’s desperate to play for Liverpool.” Those quotes were subsequently shared on Twitter by @AnfieldEdition.

Earlier this week, The Athletic had reported [via TEAMtalk] that the Reds are expected to commence talks with Werner over the next few weeks, with the 23-year-old having a €60m (£52.3m) release clause in his RB Leipzig contract which prospective suitors must trigger before the end of April if they want to sign him in the summer.
Werner has scored 27 goals in 34 games for his club this season and, with Liverpool finding the net just five times in their last six matches, these Reds fans on Twitter have called on the club to lure him to Anfield. One Kopite believes that the 23-year-old would be an upgrade on Divock Origi, who came in for criticism from some supporters following last night’s FA Cup defeat to Chelsea:
We’re desperate for him?

Let’s hope it’s true he may be the man to stop our terrible games of loosing lately and save us from throwing it all away
