Kylian Mbappe could end up leaving Paris Saint-German on a free transfer in 2022, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.
The 22-year-old is arguably the most exciting young player in world football at the moment, with many viewing him as one of the best footballers of his generation.
Mbappe is yet to commit his future to PSG, however, with the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid both linked with signing him this summer.
Ornstein claims that the more realistic option could be Mbappe leaving for free when his contract expires at the end of the 2021/22 season, with his current wage demands tricky to fund for clubs at the moment.

Unless Liverpool sell one of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino this summer, it is hard to envisage Mbappe moving to Anfield.
The amount of money he would cost, and his aforementioned wage demands, could make it impossible to justify, especially in the current climate.
The idea of Mbappe in a Liverpool shirt is undoubtedly an exciting one, however, having scored a remarkable 115 goals in 156 appearances for PSG.
If the chance arose to sign him in 2022, the Reds should jump at the chance to bring him in, though, with his speed, world-class ability and end product making him an ideal fit for this team, and an option for many years to come.
