Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Inter Milan manager Rafa Benitez wants to sign two new midfield players in the January transfer window. According to the paper, fitness concerns over Esteban Cambiasso have meant that Inter will follow Rafa’s recommendation and attempt to sign Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva. The Italian club are said to be confident of sealing a deal after the Brazilian lost his place in the Reds first team. Inter are also said to be targeting Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger although if their approach is rebuffed, Rafa may go after another former Reds player Xabi Alonso.

It’s not often I read a blog and it is an even more rare occasion that I should comment on one but what’s with all the Lucas bashing. For a player that some comments would lead you to believe is rubbish seems to be attracting admiring eyes from those who, maybe, realize he is not appreciated. From the structure of these comments I’d say none of the authors have been to Anfield.
