LIVERPOOL FC’s chase for a marquee signing could be over according to The Daily Mirror, as they hope to land Willian.
Reports suggest that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has identified the Brazilian winger as the one big signing for the summer.
Willian only joined Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala 8 months ago but due to financial difficulties the owner has, in theory, made all members of the first team squad available for transfer.
Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group are willing to bank-roll one major signing and with the Russian club looking to slash costs the Reds are hopeful of completing a deal for under the £32million Willian moved for 8 months ago.
The Anfield club have missed out on a few big name targets this summer including Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid and, of course, Henrikh Mkhitaryan who went to Borussia Dortmund.
Competition will be high to sign Willian with Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas a firm fan of the Brazilian. Chelsea could also be in the market for the high profile player.
With Liverpool not having to sell players to raise funds though, it is hoped that they can push through a deal quickly and get the player they want to Anfield on this occasion.

Nobody gets signed, there was talk of signing Atsu, Elia, Eriksen, mkitryan, Alderweireld,Sakho and now Willian. The list of players that dont sign for Liverpool gets longer. Who actually gets signed? Aspas, K.Toure… Not exactly game changers. Suarez won’t feature for 7 games. Top 4 is a fantasy. BR will face a tough time this campaign.
You forgot to mention allen and borini…if we buy willian we will fight for top four but have to sell allen and borini..but knowing rodgers he will rather have these two even though henderson has better statatics…

Sign the boy, lets go for it this season we have a good chance to be up there this season a wide left player would really improve us and he looks a good player Suarez, coutinho, Gerrard sturridge and Willian could fire us right up there.
Hang on a sec. Any Brazilian who goes to play football for Anzhi is a mercenary. There is no other reason to go there. It is in the middle of a desert, in a rubbish league, and they pay enormous wages.
