LIVERPOOL FC’s chase for a marquee signing could be over according to The Daily Mirror, as they hope to land Willian.
Reports suggest that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has identified the Brazilian winger as the one big signing for the summer.
Willian only joined Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala 8 months ago but due to financial difficulties the owner has, in theory, made all members of the first team squad available for transfer.
Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group are willing to bank-roll one major signing and with the Russian club looking to slash costs the Reds are hopeful of completing a deal for under the £32million Willian moved for 8 months ago.
The Anfield club have missed out on a few big name targets this summer including Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid and, of course, Henrikh Mkhitaryan who went to Borussia Dortmund.
Competition will be high to sign Willian with Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas a firm fan of the Brazilian. Chelsea could also be in the market for the high profile player.
With Liverpool not having to sell players to raise funds though, it is hoped that they can push through a deal quickly and get the player they want to Anfield on this occasion.

Would be a great signing but he won’t be coming to us so don’t get your hopes up
No one is coming in, sometimes I understand Suarez desire to leave, Tottenham are getting strong, I know it not about big names, but you need good player to play good football, FSG has enough money to fire us up, but they are clever business group, they want to develop the youth when Liverpool fans don’t have the patience and Suarez he’s going to be 27 next year as striker he has only 3 good years to try to achieve his dreams he came to Liverpool at the age of 24, we need a team to rely on, no just one player, but the FSG project is to build a team around good young players like coutinho, sterling and Henderson, Suarez can go, the only player we need he’s strong CDM like Diame to protect the back four in big games, we have clever player up front Jordan Ibe he’s very strong and BR can use as false striker or winger he’s quick, he has skills and pace he need just games to gain experience, him and and sterling will bring something new this season with the addition of Aspa who I believe will be good poacher, we have sturridge and coutinho, Borini movements are very good he need only a goal to gain confidence, the back four is full of experience players like Agger, Toure, Enrique, Johnson, Skertel and few back up like Wisdom, Kelly, Coates, we need another left back, to be honest we have a very good team and if Suarez the rat want to stay, we can make it to top 4 with a good CDM to help Lucas, Willian might be a good addition to the team but 32m is too much we can bring to good player with less wage demand but I will welcome his capture anyway, if you look at Barcelona and Bayern Munich it not all about big tall players, but quality and this is BR philosophy, win the ball together and attack together, goal from midfielders, wingers, defenders and strikers, just wait and see
For 32 million we can get at least 2 players.
Itsn’t just 32mil its the wages as well 100k per week, why not buy mureil for 15-18mil younger cheaper less wages and produces the same ifnot better results than willian.just hope rodgers buys a central defender at least before transfer shuts down.
infarct liverpoolfc need play makers so as 2 inject pressure 2 de opponent side in order 2 win more games den relaying only on a play maker, when he gets injuries it means de team z finish so signing willian 25yrs @ 32m z gd but liverpool should also do dere best 2 sign anada midfilder n a left defender n should not sell skatell 2 napoli
You should mail this plan to BR
waste of money. what is it about having to make a ‘marquee signing’ to appease the fans? how about signing someone who genuinely wants to play for the club instead of coming for the money? i thought we’d learned some common sense after carroll and downing. obviously not. hope spurs get him
None of Rodgers signings are established internationals, he has an inferiority complex about signing top players so he focuses on squad players or ‘up & coming’ players. The man is a out of his depth.
Get Willian, keep Suarez, bolster the defence (Siqueira). Achieve objective: top 4 finish. Jobs a goodun.
Liverpool have to move fast because Tottenham don’t seem to have any scouts and are continually trying to gazump our signings! Thankfully they beat us to Dempsey and Sigursson who seemed to be a couple of real turkeys!!
one should understand every signing there are going to be some risks..if all goes well then its a good signing..just look at coutinho.many sceptics were questioning why liverpool wants him although with a bargain price.when he performs on the pitch everyone praises him..football is a business and business have its rival..pros n cons..money does talks..
for me, Liverpool should bear in mind that signing good players can push the club cruse. and not to make any one happy. and at last, the fans will cherished the idea. let us be wise this time.
let us do it right the first time.
william, muriel and eriksen will be very good addition for our ambition as well as sakkho in the defence position.
:
Which part of liverpool don’t have money do you people above not get? Miktrarayan or whatever his name is… We bid 20 plus million pounds . That is good money for a mf player!
The problem comes from BR and his incompetence. A no mark manager. It seems his famous days from swansealona haven’t reached European players yet.
Willain??? Scott Sinclair we end up with!
Top 4 challange OR out of my club.
The problem comes from people blaming BR for everything! how is it his fault if players don’t sign for the club? Ian Ayre does the business side of transfers! stop bitchin and support the team or get out of my club!! you’re talking through your arsenal !!!
Shut up George. Erin is right. These yank bstrds are screwing our club, and only idiots like u can’t see it
George is correct in his assumption of the transfer team, people who don’t or can’t get behind LFC for whatever reason do not deserve to support this club.
You’re an idiot
Erin You’re an idiot
couldnt have said it better
You are a * mate, go support someone else cause you sure as hell don’t support liverpool
Erin . Fsg have plenty of money , but they would rather redsox get it . They only see Liverpool as a cash cow , nothing more
Running a business is not as you would do in buying sweet in a shop with your pocket money kid.
And end up paying 15m for sinclair plus by the time Buck is finished with us, we will have a team of skinny midgets who can pass the ball but won’t be able to hold on to it.
BR belive tht if he sign bid spending player an not perfurm he we bee sack, tht was d reason for his caution
Liverpool shud quickly go an sign willian becs no time.
Willien, well come to anfiled liverpool
Is like we have turned our self to arsenal that use mouth to sign players, all this while we have been going forleft back but up till now we’ve not gotten anyone.what about Erikson, mamadou sakho why?
…uhm! Just hope all this big names mentioned actually sign for lfc. However BR is not to be blamed. He’s got a low voice in the market (I’m highly sorry if I’m wrong) Ayre and big Henry needs to help us out of this insult we are getting from other clubs. We need to support BR and his project. I believe he can get us there if we give him time. Think about Sir Alex. He w as given enough time. Pls stay calm and let’s be hopeful something great happen this season.YNWA
We don’t buy we loan players top four your joking bottom four yes
