The Daily Mail is reporting that Liverpool have joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the race to sign Manchester City and England winger Shaun Wright-Phillips. The Gunners were reportedly favourites to sign the 28 year old but wages are proving a stumbling block as he currently earns £60,000 per week at the City of Manchester Stadium. Wright-Phillips has two years left to run on his City contract but manager Roberto Mancini has deemed him surplus to requirements at the club, and he will not be offered a new deal to stay in Manchester. Harry Redknapp is also said to be keen on the player but Wright Phillips’ wages would also be a problem for Spurs, and so Liverpool could have a shot at the player, although Roy Hodgson would need to raise funds to finance any such move.

SWP is still a player i would like to see at anfield, hopefully he had his fill of london though i feel CL football will be the deciding factor
I wouldn’t have him – too inconsistent for a top team.
