German international to decide on Reds move today?

|

The Daily Mail is reporting that Bayern Munich’s German international striker Mario Gomez will decide on a move to Liverpool today. Speculation has grown over a possible loan move for the striker and Roy Hodgson, after the match against West Brom, yesterday stated that he was seeking to find the right striker by the end of the transfer window:

“We’ve got space to add a player. We’d like another striker, we’ve said that all along and there’s no point me denying it. But we still haven’t found the right man and time is running out for us.”

25 year old Gomez was bought by Bayern for roughly €30million last summer but hasn’t been able to establish himself in the first team.

    Would be the perfect signing!!!

  • Ben says:

Would be a good signing, especially if he came on loan. That should leave us some money and I think we should buy another striker as well. One of the young players from the Dutch league, van Foxfanny or whatever he’s called!!!

I hope they do get him on loan with an option to buy that would be great, only i don’t see it happening.
I am holding out hope Ruiz signs but i am probably dreaming.

Mario on loan plus Toivanen (cash) and Lassana (loan/cash) Diarra would give us a chance to compete with the top teams at this minute. Id rather see Toivanan then Ruiz don’t get me we need either right now so id be happy whoever we get but Toivanan is alot better, his all round game is better 2 footed good in the air, besides Mourinhos Real are interested in him so he must be good……YNWA

Oh dear. A poor man’s Heskey. Are we trying to get relegated?

  • TG says:

He has told Bayern he wants to join Liverpool today, goal.com reporting his agents comments now, he definitely wants to join Liverpool.

And you believe everything Goal.com reports!!!!

  • Bren says:

good if we can get a few loans in, I would also go for RSC at City, Either Diarra would do and then spend the money on a winger like A.Young, we need some pace on the wing as that Serb guy is a complete waste of space (a poor mans Kuyt).

van foxfanny LMAO!!! its not like van wolfswinkel is taking the pi** enough. uv just made my day cheers.

agree with bren, good player, loan deal would be great because i believe we DESPERATELY need to buy at least one out and out winger because it does look like we have a dirk on both sides at the minute, with no sign of a bloody cross!
charles insomnia or SWP would do at this late stage, but please roy, don’t leave us with no width!

Remind me Steve, who set up Torres’ goal on the weekend?

  • nkk says:

WWWIIIINNNNNGGGGEEERRRSSSSS!!! We need at least one who can run at the defence and cause problems.

  • ROGUE says:

I would say get mario Gomez on a loan deal. Then, we’ll have 12M left as we haven’t signed Paul Konchesky.(I think Agger and Aurelio are both better than Konchesky. So, we should leave the left-back position alone for now. As we have cover) With the 12M left, I would get the signature of young Juan Mata from Valencia. That’d be the last signing for this transfer window.

When the next transfer window re-opens, we can sell Lucas (6.5M), Kyrgiakos (2M), Insua (5M), Plessis (0.5M), El Zhar (1M) and get Javi Martinez for 15M. By then, I hope we are already in a new owners hands. Therefore, he should give Hodgson some funds, say 8-10M to sign Royston Drenthe (fast, agile, supplies good crosses, a good defender, capable of breaking down the defence) from Madrid and 20M to buy Mario Gomez on a permanent deal. Now, we finally have a tip-top team.

    Starting XI :

    GK Pepe Reina
    RB Glen Johnson
    RCB Jamie Carragher
    LCB Martin Skrtel
    LB Royston Drenthe
    RWM Joe cole
    RCM Steven Gerrard
    LCM Raul Mereiles
    LWM Juan Mata
    RS Fernando Torres
    LS Mario Gomez

    SUPER SUBS :

Brad Jones, Daniel Agger, Fabio Aurelio, Javi Martinez, Maxi Rodriguez, Ryan Babel, Dirk Kuyt
