Rumour Mill: Reds to bid for ex Chelsea star or Bilbao forward?

|

Another “rumour” from CaughtOffside.com is that Liverpool are interested in buying former Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen from Monaco. The 31 year old spent part of last season on loan at Tottenham and is believed to be surplus to requirements at the Ligue One side. Roy Hodgson has denied however that the club will bid for PSV’s Ola Toivonen:

“No. Unlikely. He’s a good player but not the profile I’m looking for.”

There has also been speculation in the Spanish press that Roy is looking at Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente. The 25 year old score 23 goals in 50 appearances for the Basque club last season.

    YNWA

I wouldn’t be too bothered, he can score goals – i would prefer a younger player though. i thought Roy had ruled out signing Ola, and has enquired for Carlton Cole (hope not). We really need some propper wingers than more forwards. Get Mata and another winger then play Jovanovic, Kuyt and Babel as forwards and not makeshift wingers

  • Hodgson says:

I say Fernando Llorente all the way!

i said 2 years ago that the best frontman to play as back up player and as a partnership is llorente, he is strong, great at playing of another frontman, can score with his head, not like crouch, can play on his own and hold the ball up and also knows torres reina, etc.
for around 10 mill he is still young, got the best years ahead of him and also needs to get back to being in the news for his entry into the spanish set up again, all plus points so would should sign this guy, get insua out with the deal, the best option on the market for what we need by far. get the deal done, never mind another over rated shite english player

please stop posting rumours from CaughtOffside. that site just makes things up that have no hope of materialising.
