Roy: “The boy is very, very upset”

|

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has responded to the incident surrounding Daniel Agger’s comments to Danish TV in which the Dane has claimed his words were taken out of context:

“This happens a lot. A player is not in the team, he does an interview on his national television, people then take his answers and put different questions to them. The boy is very, very upset because he hasn’t said these things but it’s another nice little headline after the defeat to Manchester United.”

Asked whether he would talk to Agger about the incident, Hodgson said:

“I don’t give players mass media training. I would give mass media training to young players but Agger has played many games for Liverpool and Denmark – I wouldn’t want to pull him aside and say, ‘be careful what you say.’ He already understands those things. You are going to get caught out sometimes.”

The thing is, Agger’s right in everything he says! He shouldn’t be censured, he should be applauded.

Spot on. Roy. Just like his football, Agger has been caught out time and time again. Clearly, a very average footballer who is made to look good by the many lfc supporters who are simply in denial of the truth about his talent or rather the lack of it.

  • agger for me has the technical ability to play in the defensive midfield position. he is wasted at center back. if only i had roy hodgsens number

  • Let’s see he might have been caught out really?he is 100% correct.Roy pls explain 2 holding midfielders@home against Westbrom Albion.Torres saved us.It might have escaped everyone we had 1 SHOT at goal up to 65 min @ old trafford.2 goals from dead ball situations.Happy with a draw @ Birmingham ????????.Small club mentality.Fergie’s barbs after the game Torres a cheat? And he is backtracking now.We have a poodle for a manager now and of course that adds to being everyone’s friend. We have no DIVINE right to win every game but we expect every manager and players to give the very BEST ALWAYS and leave nothing in the locker room.Anyone seen Jamie redknapp lately?YNWA

Agger is the only centre back at the club who is comfortable on the ball and he should be playing week in week out alongside Skrtel or Carragher as he should be the 1st centre backs name down on the team sheet.

Agger is comfortable on the ball, can come forward or pick a pass and he is different from Carragher, skrtel and Krygiakos.

And complements the other centre back he plays alongside, as he is the calm composed, assured centre back, whereas the others are all crunching, die hard centre backs who take out anything in their path.

Agger has the side to him, but the composure, control, shot, being able to bring the ball forward makes him a vital component to the side/squad.
