Time for these 5 players to stand up this weekend

|

Martin Skrtel – Had an inauspicious debut against Havant & Waterlooville in the FA Cup but progressed to become a very important member of Liverpool’s first team, especially impressing in a shut-out against Inter Milan in the Champions League back in 2008. Since then though, injuries and a loss of form, have led to many uncertain displays by the Slovakian international. He is assured under the high ball but less comfortable with the ball at his feet and can be accused of playing too square sometimes allowing attackers to turn him and get a run at goal.

Joe Cole – For one reason or another, Joe has not been firing on all cylinders since his arrival in the summer. His sending off against Arsenal on the opening day of the season didn’t help him settle in at the club, but more problematic, has been Roy’s choice to reverse his decision of playing him “in the hole” behind the striker to leave him isolated on the left hand side. It certainly isn’t easy playing in a team that is not playing well, but Joe has the ability to inspire teams, and create something out of nothing. Now would be the best time to demonstrate his abilities, and although he has played quite well in some Europa League matches, he hasn’t been at his best in the league. Let’s hope that can change against Everton.

Fernando Torres – I don’t have to tell any Liverpool fan that the Spanish striker has struggled for form and fitness this season. Another injury picked up against Blackpool will not help matters, but hopefully with the ownership issue coming to a close, and some optimism coming back to Reds fans, perhaps the smile will come back to the face of Torres and he will play with the pace and ability we know he possesses.

I believe Jova needs to step up but be played as a striker and Merieles needs to be put in a spot that suits him and left there.
