Reds’ Manager Declares All is Well in Liverpool

|

Never one to mince words, former footy star and Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish said earlier this week that he believes The Reds are in “excellent shape” going forward.

With the recent onslaught of injuries the squad has suffered, however, there aren’t many willing to take Dalglish’s words as gospel. But as fans moan and hit their knees, Kenny is feeling quite good about The Reds’ chances this weekend at Anfield, as Tottenham Hotspur are coming to town.

Even with the injuries plaguing the team, Liverpool still only trail Man U and Chelsea in the Premier League standings; and having earned 33 points in their last 16 games, the gap is closing up quite beautifully.

With every sports book and top online casino across the globe writing them off after injuries to first-teamers like Raul Meireles, Daniel Agger, and Steven Gerrard, what Liverpool has been able to accomplish, especially against Fulham on Monday night, is nothing less than extremely impressive and should strike fear in the hearts of Chelsea and Man U.

Dalglish said that he believes the team’s 5-0 win over Birmingham a few weeks ago is an indication of how far his squad has come, both in talent and in attitude.

With inspired performances from Maxi and Cole, as well as timely contributions from Robinson and Flanagan, these players considered to be on the “fringe” of the team have filled the first-team role without skipping a beat.

In theory, this is exactly what replacement players are on the team for – to come into the game and fill the stars’ shoes if they happen to go down to injury. But that rarely happens. Most teams suffering a string of injuries such as Liverpool has can kiss their chances for success goodbye. It is a testament to the entire organization that these replacements have been able to keep the squad alive and kicking for potential Premier League greatness.

Only time will tell if the players can hold up to playing at this level, but it is certainly looking good thus far.

I thought Flanagan looked shaky for the first time last night. Granted he was out of position and he is 18 playing premiership football. I think the worst thing to do will be to loan him out to another prem side I don’t think he would play.
