Wigan midfielder James McCarthy is annoyed with speculation that contract talks have broken down with the Latics. He told the Wigan Evening Post:
“I’ve spoken to the club and I’m waiting for them to get back to me. To be honest, I’m not too sure where some papers get their stories from, because nothing like that has happened at all. As far as I’m concerned, the contract talks haven’t broken down, everything is fine, we’re still talking and we’ll see what happens. It does annoy me a bit to be seeing my name in the papers for the wrong reasons. But hopefully it (the talks) goes well. The gaffer has always been great with me on that score. All I want to do is get my head down and concentrate on helping Wigan start the season well.”
The player has been linked with Liverpool in the past.
