FABIO Capello is said to have been approached by a representative from Liverpool FC, sparking rumours that he has been invited to hold further talks with owners FSG in Boston.
Reports coming out of ESPN claim that Capello has been sounded out by the Reds and is interested in the position after turning down the opportunity to join newly crowned European Champions Chelsea.
Capello, who still has a home in West London, was thought to have initially sought the Chelsea job, but the Italian has now ruled himself out of that equation.
It was claimed that an agent representing Liverpool approached Capello before the Champions League final to enquire as to his interest in the position and has since held preliminary talks, at which he expressed a desire to be considered. However those same ESPN sources now state that no official approach has been made.
Of all the listed contenders for the Liverpool hotseat, and out of those readily available, surely Capello has the most impressive CV – second to non at at club level – winning Serie A on 7 occasions with three different club’s (AC Milan, Roma – their first in 18 years, and Juventus – though these were later stripped in light of the Calciopoli scandal), La Liga twice (in two separate spells with Real Madrid) and the European Cup.
At 65 years old however, he is some 4 years older than Kenny Dalglish and would seemingly go against the initial criteria that FSG set, in wanting a ‘young and vibrant’ manager who is able to take the club forward for the foreseeable future.

Without a doubt Liverpool have made their biggest mistake in many years with the sacking of King Kenny. He is the best British player ever and was not given a fair chance. This terrible mistake will haunt them for years to come and it will look good on Henry. The managers being mentioned will not cut it, Martinez is a bloody joke he has barely kept Wigan up,if any of you love Martinez why don’t you go support Wigan. This cock-up will cause Liverpool many years in Europe, 5-6 years is my estimate so sit back and relax.
