WITH Liverpool FC’s skipper Steven Gerrard newly installed as his country’s Captain, and the latest news that Andy Carroll has been handed England’s number 9 shirt, there’s certainly plenty of reasons for Reds fans to follow the Three Lions with interest during Euro 2012.

Former Liverpool FC, and now England manager Roy Hodgson also selected Glen Johnson and Stewart Downing from his former club, in hope of changing the nations fortunes in a major tournament.

However, as we head into this year’s European Championships there is little-to-no hope amongst the England fans that their team have a chance of progressing from the group stages, let alone win the tournament. However, there will always be that shred of hope at the back of every England fan’s mind that ‘just maybe… what if?’

Ian Wright is thought of as many things; a legendary footballer, excitable pundit and talismanic leader of men but rarely a thoughtful poet

This video produced by Absolute Radio portrays him in a light never seen before.

Absolute Radio will broadcasting live commentary to the nation from UEFA EURO 2012TM this summer with brand new radio rights to 10 matches including England and the Republic of Ireland’s group matches from the group stage phase and knock out phases of the tournament.

Fans can tune in across Absolute Radio which includes commentary on FM in a UK radio first, plus our very own Arsenal legend and former England International Ian Wright will take to the airwaves from 5pm with a daily show throughout the tournament.

Match Commentary and analysis from Wrighty and the team will be available on 105.8FM in London and the South East as well as 1215AM nationwide, on digital radio, online, mobile and digital TV.

Can Gerrard become the first England skipper since ’66 to win a trophy? Just don’t get injured eh?!

Jimmy Areabi (Editor) - @fantasista1077: Huyton raised like Steven Gerrard, football has been my passion since the time I received a Kenny Dalglish badge as a toddler, and I've followed the Reds ever since – something that was easier during the 80s, when I worshipped John Barnes! I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.
Having played football all my life, I aim to continue longer than Stanley Matthews...

England will not get past the group stages.
I see them ending last with just 1 point earned against France or Sweden. Most likely Sweden.
Poor old Hodgson will carry the blame, he will be the scapegoat again, as he was at a poor and under funded LFC.
Hodgson is heading for a hiding for nothing, yet again. The media will crucify him

pessimistic people. This team under hodgson will be difficult to beat not pretty but effective The norway result showed that a team that lacked first team members in defensive areas definitely when it starts for real only rooney will be left out til final match. However I believe we can take 7 from 9 to come second in this stage. with luck we can get to semis and even final because you need a little luck look at chelsea they rode their luck against bayern and barca but won first match is our toughest Remeber hodgson formed this squad in short time and got a win in oslo where we have struggled to get anything for years. That was his first game give him a chance. Was his record at the reds any worse than dalglish’s really then at west brom he did a good job. remember columbo always seems a bumbling fool but knows what he is doing Hodgson will get the team working together. Can England win yes with luck but it is unlikely given the time he has had with the squad and scouting the other teams we will face.

I’m not quite sure about the reactions of a lot of LFC fans.(I am one myself,),but I have read a lot of comments from others who do not care about what happens to England.(I am not one of them – I support England fully!).
It is nevertheless nice to know there are plenty of other fans that ‘do support England’!
