FC GOMEL were confirmed as Liverpool’s opponents in the UEFA Europa League Third Qualifying Round on Thursday night after the Belarusian side earned a 2-1 aggregate victory over FK Renova.

Gomel lost 1-0 to Renova in the second leg of the Second Qualifying Round, but their 2-0 victory from the first leg was enough to see them through to the third qualifying round.

Liverpool will play the first leg in Gomel on Thursday 2nd August, kicking off at 7pm UK time.

The return leg will be played at Anfield on 9th August and will kick off at 8:05pm.

Liverpool’s opponents qualified for the Europa League by finishing third in the Belarusian Premier League, having been promoted from the First Division the previous season. FC Gomel are managed by Oleg Kubarev and play their football at the Central Stadion, which has a capacity of 14,307. Their squad includes Belarusian international Vyacheslav Hleb, who is the brother of ex-Arsenal player Alexander Hleb.

This will b a good fixture for us’Liverpool’ considering the fact that they are from lowly rated league. Although we don’t underrate them but I think they are underdog. Up Reds
