Sneijder Awaiting Reds Bid?

ACCORDING to the Sunday People, Liverpool Football Club are attempting to snatch Dutch international midfielder Wesley Sneijder, from under the noses of Turkish giants, Galatasaray.

The newspaper reports that Galatasaray have had a bid of £8.2m accepted by Sneijder’s current club, Inter Milan, but claim that Brendan Rodgers has launched an audacious last minute bid to bring the Dutchman to Anfield.

Sneijder is believed to be stalling on agreeing personal terms with Galatasaray in the hope that a Premier League club will come calling, with the former Real Madrid man known to be keen on a move to England.

The report goes on to say that Ian Ayre has been in conversation with, Boston based bosses, FSG over the course of the last 24 hours in an effort to see what kind of offer can be made. Sneijder’s wage at Inter is a reported £160k a week, and one of the main reasons for his departure from the Milanese club is his apparent refusal to take a wage cut. However with a relatively low transfer fee and after the release of Nuri Sahin, Brendan Rodgers is believed to be confident that a deal can potentially be struck.

At 28 Sneijder is still in his prime and the central midfielder would bring a wealth of experience to what is a relatively young Liverpool side. A player of Sneijder’s calibre and reputation, if signed, would be an important statement from Brendan Rodgers and FSG about where this Liverpool team is headed and would be overwhelmingly supported by fans.

anybody would be better than the display i just watched by joe allen complete crap,,,

  • dale says:

This can only work if Inter settle the remainder of Sneijder’s contract to his satisfaction. we simply cannot afford the astronomical wages being banded around. If he’s prepared to take 60-70k per week, then we should take him on with a view to an increase if the move is successful.

When a player of Sneijder’s calibre is available for such a fee, wages shouldnt be a problem. Yes, it might be bad offering a 28 year old high wages. But, there are times where you just have to splash that extra bit of cash/wages in exchange for top quality. Looking at how poor Joe Allen did today, we could do so much better with Sneijder. Had we have Sneijder, we might have staged a successful comeback. Just imagine Sneijder linking up with Suarez and Gerrard! Its mouth watering! Seriously, this deal will be well worth the money. Look at Van Persie’s impact at United. Sneijder will do the same! Ynwa sign him up Rodgers!

  • Brendan says:

Agree with both comments above, Joe Allen was very poor today and I wonder what he really has to offer.

Sturridge looked good today all be it a bit rusty, at least you could see a partnership forming.

Sneijder’s on a reasonable fee and wages would add to the quality in midfield. Though I would prefer Alonso who is rarely injured, knows the PL and loves Liverpool and probably has more to his all round game. Both are quality.

Dont understand why it took so long to get defense for free set up, too late and our keeper was never ready.

We missed Jose at left back today and Sterling offered little. I would prefer Maxi out there who could score. That said we need better quality on the wing and I don’t think it is Inch.

Funny all the people who called for Kennys head, he managed to have a great record against the top sides. We have not beaten a team in the top part this year. We were a bit uncluck with offside goal but we should have changed the team earlier as LS was not getting any support in the first half.

Work In Progress I suppose, but I have doubts about Boroni (spelling ?) too.

Pity Walcott has got as a run in the middle as him LS and DS could form a good front 3 and next year look for an altaerative option up front.

I agree with most of your comments,as you know there is no point showing up at O.T with a bad midfielder,& a boss who is not up to job at making astute substitutions,Danny boy changed the game ok,but the manager should be a bit quicker to assess the game before it got away from us.

  • Mr rogders u killed the game with ur selection nobody expect u to start allen ahead of hendo….thank u hendo at least controlin the the tempo in the midfield ..hope the rodgers will know now u r far better than light weight allen…….well done lad YNWA

Look , its a pointless waste of time article . Your just repeating what nonsense one of the sunday rags printed . What do they have ? 12% of their stories are truth i think

No way is Sneijder coming here , FSG wont pay that kind of wages , FSG wont pay for players of his age , and he wouldn’t come to a club in crisis with a cabbage of a manager

    Its simply not true

  • segun says:

Well getting sneijder will simply mean a huge turn around for lfc,and i don’t believe he can’t come 2 lfc because he really wants 2 play for a english team.rodgers pls persuade FSG 2 get him 4 u cus he can really make tins work 4 u here in liverpool.

  • Maik says:

Allan is DISGRACE ,not fit for our reserve

Shame on the fool Rogers for always pick him

    Rogers need sack

  • Jkaanthan says:

BR pls bring back Alonso from Real Madrid…..

  • tommy says:

sneijder could play for liverpool , we’re a better club than gala , we played well today , second half was great , joe allen has lost confidence , he’s only a kid , he’ll come right too ,, bren rodgers is doing excellent too , rebuilding !! lets get behind lfc

    • simon says:

what are you on ? Allen is not a kid , he is 23 , he is total rubbish in every way

Sneijder would never play for a midtable club and the tight yanks would never pay his wages

And Rodgers is the worst manager in our history , he is not rebuilding , he is destroying
      kop on kid !

      • Adam78 says:

Suppose to support the players not b a total moron if u can’t support the team when we lose or draw don’t bother when we win can’t b arsed with dumb ass fans like u

        • simon says:

          Thats stupid !

Support them when they are rubbish ? If my own son was playing for Liverpool and he played like Allen does – i wouldn’t want him in the team

I want Liverpool to be good and win , i dont want players who are crap .

      • tommy says:

simon i empathise with you fella , but im not going to let todays result spoil my evening , my thinking is , sneijder wants prem footy , rather than turkish , and with cole out and the other kid gone , we should be able afford him , he could be the player who lifts us into a cl team position ,rodgers doing ok too , lets support lfc

        • simon says:

I support LFC with all my heart , but cant support a manager who is making us worse . I dont want a guy in charge who is totally inept . I want whats best for LFC – that means sacking Rodgers

  • ibrahim says:

the wages salary is the problems but if he could reduce the salary then we can well come to anfield. bcos gerrard is just a manage to our midfield.

  • Higgs Boson says:

Sneijder isn’t going to Anfield. Why would he? To play for a midtable club in the EPL! Like Dion Fanning said: Suarez is more lightly to be driven out of Liverpool by medicracy than by Comolie’s claims. Today’s performance was awful and not so much in a footballing since, but in the gutlessness of the performance. I’m a fan with 25 years and back then I started following Liverpool because of the desire, hunger and the driven appetite to be the best. All I see nowdays is a pathetic club accepting the attitude of ‘inferiority’ and not the attitudes that everyone admires which once made Liverpool great. Did Suarez appear sick of it today (in his body language)? I thought he did. I saw the same signs creep in that once invaded the last great striker. Sneijer isn’t that stupid!!

    • tommy says:

higgs im born and bred in anfield area , followed liverpool 45yrs , we just need to be patient it will come good today we done well in the second half , its not a crime to lose at united , my heart bleeds red always

      • Angry Red says:

Stop being stupid , we have been patient and we are still going backwards . There is NO reason to think this fool Rodgers can turn it round . NONE

        • tommy says:

angryred, anger is like drinking poison and expecting ferguson to die ,, there’s no quick fix , and im not looking to whip a boy, if i was gonna play the blame game , id start by pointing finger at dalglish , at ref’s at managers , at the weather , at bad luck , no im trying to stay positive , im aware that pride can be a ba–ard

  • Brenda is gonna struggle

  • keith says:

the problem lays in midfield on todays result and performance ,,JOE ALLEN is causing the biggest problem the weakness he has on the field is shocking no strength and vision he,s built and plays like a under 12,,Drop the hard luck stories BR it,s youre team selection thats causing us points ,,mourinhino watching on today would have had allen subbed after 10 mins, time you put the club in front of ur ego BR.even if sneijder did come this clown in charge will start with allen ,,,

    • deane fitzpatrick says:

I could not believe brenda left joe Allen on d pitch fordat long,I couldn’t really believe he started.that game was lost in the middle of the park.we needed jonjo in there to add a bit of bite, then he puts borini on.At dat point I lost faith in brenda.I understand he wants to prove they worth the ridiculous money we spent on them but they are just not good enough

    • simon says:

Your right Keith ….. there is only 1 solution – Sack Rodgers

  • g guy says:

Brendan Rogers made the mistake of not watching Man previous games if he had he would have seen that other teams have attacked United and scored forcing united to come from behind, the team he put out today was to defend and with Allen in midfield they cant do that he gives the ball away too much, also Liverpools style of play is one pass forward and three back the good teams go forward at every opportunity Liverpool don’t,the game was screaming for Sturridge and Rogers was too slow to see it

  • Angry Red says:

Allen is a embarrassment to Liverpool FC _ and so is that buffoon Rodgers who picks him

    RODGERS OUT

  • Liam says:

I have not slagged of BR before , i always thought he needed a little time so i have been patient . Until that is i saw Joe Allen in starting line up at Old trafford .
I thought maybe he had learned his lesson , we have been much better without Allen in recent weeks , but no Rodgers picks his favourite for the biggest match .

How anyone can think Allen is fit to play premier football i dont know . To spent 15m and then to continue playing him when he shows nothing every week, is disgracefully poor management

I have lost all respect for Rodgers , and i want him sacked because there is no hope in this loser

  • simon says:

To all you dreamers out yhere who think we could sign Sneijder – forget it . Ayre issued a statement saying Rodgers is not interested .

Next time – kop on . Liverpool wont pay big money , and Rodgers cant attract big players

  • tommy says:

gerrards on massive money , he’s past his best by 4yrs why cant he have a drop in wages to help the pay for sneijder and carra he’s on 100 pluss k to

    • Dan says:

LOL ? u think players are going to drop wages to pay 4 someone else ? stop being silly man

anyway sneijer wouldn’t come in million years

      • tommy says:

point im trying to make is , gerrard n carra on massive wages , maybe the club should look at this for future as the 2 of them are finished but still drawing top wages , like if it was possible sneijder would come to us and the funds to pay him wages then for the better of the club , wages stucture !

  • Terry Mac says:

Allen is disgraceful , totally disgraceful . Rodgers is a fool . 15m for that and he lets Spearing go . Spearing is twice the player Allen is

    Terrific performance by Wisdom though
