Reds poised to land Tiago?

LiverpoolTHE Liverpool Echo has reported that Liverpool FC are planning a bid for Sporting Lisbon’s highly rated youngster, defender Tiago Ilori.

The club have already been to watch the 20 year old on numerous occasions, and it appears they consider his credentials adequate enough for a move to the Premiership.

Lisbon may still pose a problem to Liverpool’s advances however, as they are unwilling to part with Ilori easily after he broke his way into the first team several months ago, and has kept his place in the team with a series of impressive performances.

Despite this, Lisbon are under severe financial strain and may have no other alternative than to offload some of their most valuable assets.

Ilori was originally born in London, but in 2006 joined the academy at Sporting Lisbon and since then has represented Portugal at an under 20 level. His primary attributes are his great pace and his aerial dominance, as he stands at 6 foot 3 inches tall.

Liverpool have not actually made any advances towards the player, who is also garnering interest from Spanish club Valencia, and is viewed as a future development, opposed to an immediate replacement for vice captain Jamie Carragher, who will play his last game for Liverpool on Sunday before retiring.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

Only Rafa can work with limited funds… We need him back. Look at all Rafa’s buys that cost over £5m. Reina 5m, Agger 5m, Garcia 6m, Alonso 10m, Skrtl 4.5m, Arbeloa 2m(below) etc

That kind of money could be used for good transfers before City, Chelsea and most recently QPR splurged their money everywhere and spoiled the market….what you are talking about is back in the day my boy

I remember all the fuss over hot young defender Coates who had just been named young player of the tournament at the Copa America. What happened to him?
What happened to Danny Wilson the hot young defender from Rangers?

Why do Liverpool ruin young talent?

  • mubarik says:

4 me i think rodgers can take the team into top 4 only if he is given enough fund

  • You heard says:

Can we please stop saying bring Rafael back…. its not going to happen. If FSG didn’t bring him back this go around what makes anyone think they will in the future. I’m not a big fan of BR but to keep saying bring Rafael back is a waste of breath.

  • Brigadier says:

What happened to that other young Portuguese kid we signed and what about Suso, Shelvey etc. all being ruined by Bodgers. Remember Nuri Sahin? Get that sh**house Bodgers out!

  • Ben says:

We have suffered enough and I wish for Liverpool to be in the top four. There been enough wastage, need to see perhaps 2 or more players of quality to strengthen the team for 2014. Joe Allen should be sold. One of BRs mistakes. B

  • Uche says:
