Win LFC shirtTHE 2012/13 season was Liverpool FC’s 50th consecutive year in the top flight of English football, and they placed seventh at the end of the season – one place and nine points higher than 2011/12. After the dismissal of Kenny Dalglish and the instatement of Brendan Rogers at the start of the season, the expectation was perhaps that they would place higher, leaving some fans disappointed.

But, with the close of the 2012/13 season just behind us, it’s time to start looking forward to the start of the Premier League on the 17th August. No doubt the team want to perform even stronger next year, and Rodgers has his eye on snagging some defensive reinforcements, with Jamie Carragher’s retirement, and a new centre-forward, as Luis Suarez inches towards the exit door, and Daniel Sturridge potentially misses the start of the season due to an injured ankle.

Despite these setbacks, however, the team is gearing up to get itself back into the top four in 2013/14, with a new kit that harks back to 1984 – when Liverpool FC won the European Cup for the fourth time. A testament to one of the team’s greatest years, Brendan Rogers commented ‘It’s distinctly Liverpool, which the players and I love’.

A red kit with a subtle red stripe, red and white stripe trim and yellow branding, this is a modern take on the iconic 1984 kit, which will hopefully inspire the players to similar achievements this year.

Jimmy Areabi (Editor) - @fantasista1077: Huyton raised like Steven Gerrard, football has been my passion since the time I received a Kenny Dalglish badge as a toddler, and I've followed the Reds ever since – something that was easier during the 80s, when I worshipped John Barnes! I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.
Having played football all my life, I aim to continue longer than Stanley Matthews...
