PSG defenderACCORDING to The Sport Review, Paris-Saint Germain defender Mamadou Sakho has confirmed that he has received an offer for him to leave PSG, in the midst of widely reported interest by Liverpool.

There has already been much speculation regarding Sakho, the majority of it linking the Frenchman with a move to Anfield, and this latest offer could very well mean that the rumours ring true. However the Liverpool Echo now believe the French defender NOT to be on the wanted list of Brendan Rodgers.

Sakho made 24 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG last season under Carlo Ancelotti, but the 23 year old has voiced his frustration at what he considers a lack of first team opportunities for the team.

Sakho has been mooted as a potential replacement for recently retired defender Jamie Carragher, with Brendan Rodgers hoping to increase his defensive ranks following the uncertainty over several players’ future and the centre-half has said that he will engage in talks with PSG’s newly appointed manager, Laurent Blanc, before making a decision.

Sakho said: “I’ll be able to talk with the new coach and see what he thinks, I am flattered by the interest of historic clubs like Liverpool and AC Milan. We will see what happens in the near future.

“I have to make a decision. PSG is my club, I was born here and I learned my football here. I want to play for this club all my life, but it is clear that I do not want to sit on the bench. I have not played as much as I would have liked last season because of the choices of the coach.

“Every player wants to play every week, too. There is an offer on the table.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.
