Liverpool-v-Swansea-Luis-Suarez-celeb_2902303The Swans arrive at Anfield today on the back of a run of mixed form.  Wins have been followed by defeats and a win over Welsh rivals Cardiff City was followed by a draw away at Stoke City and a cup exit at the hands of Everton.

However, an impressive 0-0 draw against Rafa Benitez’s Napoli on Thursday will have raised Swansea spirits ahead of their visit to Anfield.

Brendan Rodger’s old side have continued his legacy since his departure 18 months ago and fans are sure to be treated to an interesting encounter, with both sides likely to look for goals early on and Swansea old boy Joe Allen and former Reds midfielder Jonjo Shelvey likely to feature at some point.

Dan Agger is almost certain to keep his place, whilst Liverpool may well welcome back Glen Johnson, if not to the starting line-up then at least to the bench.  With Jon Flanagan able to fill in at left-back then there’s every likelihood that Johnson could be thrust back in to action to form some semblance of a first-choice back-four for Liverpool.

On recent form, and given their recent home form, Liverpool are odds-on favourites to take the three points but Swansea have put paid to those assumptions before and will look to take advantage of any sort of complacence on Liverpool’s part.

Currently sitting 7 points behind leaders Chelsea (with a game in hand on those above) Liverpool could again close the gap to 4 points from the top and distance themselves from chasers Manchester United (who ‘closed’ the gap), Tottenham and Everton.

Match Odds: Liverpool 3/10, Swansea 11/1, Draw 19/4
