Liverpool After a Third Southampton Player

nathaniel-clyne-southampton_3005439You can now add Nathaniel Clyne to the list of Southampton players that Liverpool are after, with reports today seeming to suggest that Brendan Rodgers has now added the 23 year old English full-back to his list of players that he’s chasing at the South coast club.

The former England U21 international, who moved from Crystal Palace to Southampton in 2012, had a decent season last year but lost his place in the first team to Calum Chambers toward the end of the season.

Reports this morning seem to suggest that Liverpool would be willing to pay up to £15 million for the full-back who can.

While Clyne may well provide a more palatable option to Liverpool’s current first-choice right back, it’s highly questionable whether Liverpool would actually be willing to pay so much for a 23 year old with such little Premier League experience, particularly after fellow youngsters, Chambers and Luke Shaw, shone so brightly at Southampton last season.

With the Reds already – reportedly – having tabled a bid of £25 million for Adam Lallana and having shown interest in central defender Dejan Lovren, it looks as if Liverpool may well be about to give Southampton a fairly huge slice of their summer transfer funds.

How would you feel about spending so much on Clyne?

It would be easier and probaly cheaper to just buy the club and rename it Liverpool reserves.

go for it. Hope we will not do same mistake again like last summer

The embarrassment for Liverpool is that you won’t get any of them

How many right backs do we need? We have more than enough. Clyne’s a good player but we don’t need him

  • Roger says:

Not a single player signed, yet they start to talk about a third.!!!

I hope it’s just media frenzy. England gone wild stories.
I don’t want neither of them. Lalana, one good season, 25 million? The joke that it’s liverpools transfers keeps running. Walk away from that deal. 25 million will sort the defence/defensive mf. Other than adding more ave players with 0 CL experience .
This is our chance to cement top 4. United will get stronger. Same goes for Chelsea/city/arsenal.
Leave lalana and the rest if them alone. No value at all. See downing/Carrol =55 million pounds.
