Liverpool defender, Agger conceded a late OG against Roma Wed

As Liverpool fans, Stevie’s retirement might have come as a good news for all of us. But we can’t deny the fact that it’s depressing he has retired on a low, finishing the World Cup campaign with just a point and it’s kind of sad we can see no more of Gerrard leading in England colors. England will miss his leadership and his values on and off the field, and most of all, his influence behind the scenes. Now, the FA has an uphill task of finding a suitable arm for the Captain’s band and importantly, a player to fill in the huge void he has left in the midfield area.

Back to Liverpool, the defeat against Roma Wednesday night saw Agger missing from the starting line-up. This certainly isn’t good news for Liverpool as there are chances he might leave Anfield. This not only means LFC will miss an amazing defender but a leader at the back. His combination with Skrtel over the years has been successful (last season aside) and I hope their magic continues if he stays.

Well, not going too much into the defeat against the Italian giants, few positives can be taken from the game. Youngster Ibe has been excellent in all the pre-season friendlies and Coutinho, as usual, has been chipping in with his passing and dribbling skills. I’d hoped to see more of our new signings but it’s down to Rodgers to pick the right team considering several factors like fatigue, injury etc.

Liverpool are rumored to be bringing more players into the team. The manager needs depth to try different combinations to compete in the most difficult league in Europe and Champions League, of course. For me, as a fan, the summer is not over yet. Liverpool have a lot of work to do, especially reforming the defense that conceded a lot of goals last season. I believe Rodgers has plans to bring in a few reputed players or to say, ‘marquee’ signings to add firepower up front since Suarez’s absence will be felt without appropriate replacements.

I hope Rodgers and Co. put the team on course for another title challenge in the 2014-15 season!

Nice Article,,,,but will love Agger to still remain,,,Experience is needed

If only Agger start improving his play rather than moaning about being overlooked. He should look no further than Skrtle. Skrtle was to transferred out last summer but he worked hard and fought back to reclaim his place. That’s how it should be when new arrivals comes in. Agger instead sulking and complaining. Reina did exactly that, and lost his position to Mignolet and he must be regretting his action now. Agger should stay and fight back into the team.

True. He should fight for his place in the side. I’d love to watch Sakho ‘the beast’ to rise up to partner Skrtel if Agger doesn’t get better. We’ll also be signing Lovren. Competition to partner Skrtel is getting heavier. Well, depth is needed!
