It would not come as the most shocking news of the summer if Mario Balotelli was to leave (or be forced to leave) Anfield, but all indications from the player today are that he’ll be happy to leave the club in the summer.
According to quotes from the Italian this morning, he has said he was never happy at Anfield and does not want to come back; a fact that many Reds will no doubt lose very little sleep over.
Speaking to the Italian media (via the Guardian), Balotelli had this to say: “When it comes to my future I want to stay with Milan because I wasn’t happy at Liverpool and I don’t want to return there. And plus, Milan has the money. I’ve been doing well in my last two games, there are another six for me to prove myself. I feel in good shape physically at last and am relaxed.”
The striker has struggled in Italy since returning to Milan on loan and the club have made it incredibly clear that they don’t want to take Balotelli back permanently next season with the player again getting up to his usual antics on and off the pitch this season.
The club are reportedly keen to have the Italian moved away in the summer and further reports on his future today state that clubs in China are still interested, whilst As Monaco have also emerged as a surprise potential destination.
