Lucas was excellent from deep tonight
Midfield
Lucas Leiva – Was selected to play in the deep midfield role and protected the back four well. A raft of interceptions contributed to Liverpool breaking quickly and with great regularity. Rating – 7.5
Joe Allen – Another all-action display from Joe, who seems determined to take his chance before the season comes to a close. Unfortunate not to open the scoring in the first half. Rating – 7
James Milner – The assists have dried up in recent matches but the work-rate persists and he was everywhere tonight. Did all he could to provide for his team mates and will be a big player for the second leg next week. Rating – 7
