Attack

Philippe Coutinho – It was a worryingly poor first half from Coutinho but his withdrawal at half-time was later explained as the player feeling unwell. Rating – 5

Roberto Firmino – No such excuses for Firmino though, who’s poor form continues. The fact he was the focal point of the attack makes that all the more disappointing, particularly after seeing the player excel here earlier in the year. May be best if he sits out the second leg in favour of Sturridge. Rating – 5

Adam Lallana – The most effective of the first-half front three and, after Ibe’s introduction, the second too. Worked tirelessly and was desperately unlucky to be pulled for offside, when he was quite clearly on side. Rating – 6.5
