We’ve very few strikers
This is the most simple reason – we hardly have any out and out centre forwards.
Roberto Firmino is good up top but isn’t a natural striker whilst Divock Origi is our only other, inconsistent option. That makes for very little in terms of squad depth – no shock there – and so keeping Sturridge has to be a must. He’s a great option to have even if he’s not scoring at the moment and will always be feared by opposing teams.
