According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Liverpool look set to lose out in the race for James Rodriguez, only days after being touted with a move for the South American.
This was a deal that we were sceptical about anyway when it first appeared and now it seems to have been reasonable to think like that.
The Colombian international has not been as good as he perhaps should have been for Real Madrid and is thought to favour a move to Bayern Munich.
His World Cup of 2014 was superb, of course, but he’s not really done it since and so perhaps a move to the Bundesliga will help him rediscover that magic.
That makes sense, of course, with Bayern one of the best around but we actually feel we could have dodged a bullet anyway.
He’s class on his day – but how often he has those days leaves a lot to be desired.
