According to Diario Gol, Barcelona are willing to let Ivan Rakitic leave the club if they are to sign Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.
The Catalan side has been linked with our Brazilian midfielder for some time and it is starting to look as though they’ll even bid in January to try and prise him away.
We can’t see an acceptance happening, of course, but in the summer we’d expect more bids to come in for him and so perhaps we should try to get Rakitic.
The Croatian is a top class player and would certainly be the kind of midfield metronome we need to help control games.
He is perhaps not as mobile as Coutinho, or as young, but he still has plenty of quality and would be one of the better replacements we could get if Coutinho does move on.
