It has been a great season for Liverpool in general and they have a Champions League final showdown with Real Madrid ahead of them, but not everybody has enjoyed such a good time of things.

Reds goalkeeper Danny Ward has been drifted into the shadows during the 2017/18 season, despite many backing him to enjoy a breakout year at the beginning of the campaign.

The 24-year-old spent the last season out on loan with Huddersfield Town and played a pivotal role in helping them achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Liverpool’s goalkeeping position has hardly been secure in recent years, with manager Jurgen Klopp switching between Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.

However, Ward has managed just one senior appearance this season, coming in the third-round of the EFL Cup, and has been restricted to youth team football for the majority of the time.

It really seems like the Wales international has taken a step backwards in the past 12 months and he really needs to start playing some senior football.

Ward needs to end his Anfield misery by going on another loan spell next season, or perhaps a permanent exit could suit him better.

Liverpool should rate the shot-stopper very highly and see that he has massive potential, but unfortunately right now he can’t manage to force his way into the first-team squad and his talent is going to waste.

There would surely be a long queue of clubs interested if he was made available in this summer window and it is something the Merseyside club should look at.
