Liverpool expect attacker Danny Ings to seal his exit before the transfer deadline for English sides on Thursday as Crystal Palace and Southampton lead the race for his services, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper claim that the 26-year-old forward, who earns £60,000-a-week at Anfield (Source: Total Sportek), should secure a move before Thursday’s 5pm cut-off to get deals done.

The Evening Standard report that while the Reds are confident of Ings moving on by Thursday’s deadline, deals to see Divock Origi, Pedro Chirivella, Lazar Markovic and Simon Mignolet exit may take longer as moves to European clubs are more likely.

Due to a move to a non-English team being more of the cards for these four fringe players then the Reds have until August 31st to officially complete a deal to part company with them.

OPINION

It’s good news for Ings as his long-term future is set to be settled quicker then some of his other teammates that are staring at the exit door currently. However it’s still unclear whether the 26-year-old should be preparing for life under Roy Hodgson or Mark Hughes at this point. Though whichever of those Premier League managers Ings opts to join then he surely will find himself with enough opportunities in order to get his career back on track. The forward has been dealt a rough hand with injuries ever since arriving at Anfield and it’s a shame that Reds supporters have hardly been given a chance to see if he can deliver the goods at his side. Given that the 26-year-old would no doubt have faced tough competition to feature for Jurgen Klopp’s first-team on a regular basis in the upcoming campaign, especially given Daniel Sturridge’s resurgence, then it makes sense for all parties involved that he gets a move before Thursday’s deadline.
