New Everton signing Lucas Digne has said he turned down the chance to sign for Liverpool twice in the past, and some fans have taken to Twitter to mock the defender.
Questions had been raised about the France international’s tattoo on his chest which reads “I will never walk alone”, with many Liverpool fans claiming it was connected to the club’s famous motto “You’ll never walk alone.”
However, as quoted by the Daily Mail, Digne said: “My tattoo has a story but it’s not about football. Maybe Liverpool fans are so angry against me because I said two times no to Liverpool. I’m blue.”
Many Liverpool fans have now reacted on Twitter to Digne’s comments, with many mocking both the player and Everton fans for their reaction.

Everton getting all excited because Liverpool tried to sign Digne…
To put it into context we also once targeted Veronin, Poulsen, Kvarme & Balotelli! I wish they turned us down. #LFC

Dear Lucas Digne , Thanks for Supposedly Rejecting @LFC . If not for you maybe we wouldn't have got Andy Robertson #LFC

Let’s get the #Digne situation straight. He rejected Liverpool when he was playing for PSG and had offers from Barcelona – completely understandable. Career has since gone tips up so he’s reluctantly agreed to Everton – that’s the reality here. #LFC #EFC

No idea why Digne is making such a big thing of rejecting #LFC twice, bet he's secretly well pleased about that now though eh? ???

OPINION
As seen here, there will not be many Liverpool fans who are too bothered about Digne supposedly rejecting the club’s advances on two previous occasions. The club are not currently struggling in the left-back position with Andy Robertson and Alberto Moreno available, and Digne has not exactly impressed for Barcelona in the past two seasons. There is no doubt that he is a good player and could regain his form for the Blues, but these Liverpool fans are seemingly unworried by that prospect, and it is easy to see why following their brilliant summer of spending which has put them in a brilliant position to challenge for the title.
