Liverpool secured a 3-2 victory over Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday night in the Champions League when they hosted them at Anfield.

The Reds went 2-0 ahead in the game before being pegged back to 2-2 but Roberto Firmino bagged a winning goal with not much time to spare, to ensure his side got the win.

While Jurgen Klopp clearly knows what team he needs to send out in order to secure victory, after his side’s flawless start to the 2018/19 campaign, he still would have learnt a few things following his team’s latest outing.

Live 4 Liverpool has rounded up three things learned about Liverpool after their 3-2 victory over PSG on Tuesday:

Liverpool are fearless

After winning their opening five league games of the season, the Reds showed no fear over playing the Paris St Germain as they threw the kitchen sink at them in the opening stages of the match. There are not many teams, not even ones in fantastic form, who would have charged at a quality side in the same style that the Reds did at Anfield. As when face with the prospect of playing a team that regularly dominate their league and have world class players to rely on, it’s not the standard approach. One thing is clear following the Reds’ start to Tuesday’s game and that is the fact Klopp’s side are fearless and won’t hide away from playing any team this season.

Joe Gomez learns valuable lesson

Joe Gomez has cruised to excellent performances this season and arguably his biggest test so far was facing PSG on Tuesday. However the 21-year-old took it in his stride and while he was caught out a couple times, he would have learnt a valuable lesson about how to handle world-class talent. The Reds centre-back kept Neymar at bay and the Brazilian looked unable to get the better of him for lot of the game. Gomez aside from picking up experience about handling an attacker capable of pulling new tricks out of the bag at any moment, would have also gained reassurance in his ability. The 21-year-old will not fear anyone and confidence gained from his latest outing should fare him well as the season continues.

Sturridge worth weight in gold

Roberto Firmino is a world-class player who any team would miss if they didn’t have him to call upon. However Daniel Sturridge was tasked with replacing the Brazilian in Klopp’s starting line-up for the important clash with PSG on Tuesday and didn’t let anyone down. The 5ft 10in tall attacker (Source: ESPN ) may have started the game slowly, and probably had some questioning him, but as soon as there was a chance to head home he came to life. Andy Robertson whipped the perfect cross for Sturridge to convert and he demonstrated what a clinical finisher he is. While some may demand that the Reds have a forward who does it all, having one who is able to score goals for fun as cover for three fantastic options is amazing. Sturridge may not become a regular feature of Klopp’s team anytime soon but he is clearly worth his weight in gold as he is able to fire home chances even when not getting consistent playing time.
