European champions Real Madrid have reignited their interest in Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish outlet claims that, having abandoned their pursuit of the Egyptian after last season’s Champions League final, Madrid president Florentino Perez is now willing to do whatever it takes to secure the 26-year-old.

German superstar Toni Kroos could find himself a victim of Madrid’s pursuit of Salah, with Don Balon’s report claiming that the former Bayern Munich man could make way for the Reds ace.

Madrid captain Sergio Ramos famously injured Salah in the Champions League final, causing much furore after the fact, but now that that’s calmed down the Spanish heavyweights are ready to go back in for the Egyptian.

OPINION

This is the last thing Liverpool supporters want to read. Salah is, unquestionably, their talisman and that was proved for the umpteenth time against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday. However, we know from experience that it is extremely difficult for players to turn Madrid down. In addition, the Bernabeu outfit have a vacancy for a superstar attacker after Cristiano Ronaldo’s high profile switch to Juventus last summer. You have to wonder, though, why anyone would want to leave Liverpool at this moment in time? Jurgen Klopp is building something truly special at Anfield and Salah is key to that. The whole Ramos business, which has ended up dragging on for several months, might help the Reds in this situation, as well. Salah may not want to go and play alongside the man who took him out of the biggest match of his career. Let’s see what happens, but there’s no way the former Roma man will be joining Madrid without a fight.
