Liverpool have one of the most dangerous attacks in the Premier League, and potentially Europe, but manager Jurgen Klopp will still be looking at ways he can strengthen in that area.

Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are pretty much undroppable, but the impact of players like Xherdan Shaqiri have shown that the Reds forward line can be improved.

One player that the club are reportedly looking at is PSV Eindhoven starlet Steven Bergwijn, who has been ripping up the Eredivisie for two seasons now.

However, as reported by the Mirror [14:33], rivals Manchester United have stepped up their interest in the 21-year-old after Bayern Munich also entered the hunt.

Liverpool and Inter Milan are named as the other clubs keeping tabs on Bergwijn, and the Reds risk missing out on the electric flyer if they do not match United after this development.

The Red Devils are said to have asked to be kept abreast of any movements by PSV, who value their prize asset at around £25million.

Liverpool must now do the same, with the potential capture of Bergwijn a move which could further improve an already-potent attacking force.

The young winger has pace to burn along with a quality final ball, with the 21-year-old registering 10 goals and nine assists so far this season.

Obviously there is a gap in quality between the Eredivisie and the Premier League, but there is no doubt that Bergwijn has the talent needed to make that jump.

Signing him would not only secure improvements in Liverpool’s attack for the present, but his young age means that he would be a big part of its future as well.

To secure such a player for just £25million is a no-brainer in today’s market, and Liverpool must do all they can to blow United and the others out the water for his signature.
